Liberal Liberty

     Too many Americans are reluctant to wear the hat of "liberal". But ironically, most of these people do not hesitate to applaud the crown of "liberty"! The former group are undoubtedly the victims of the relentless propaganda machine of the super-rich conservative right and under its spell. 

     Presently, there are around 500 conservative Talk-Radio stations in the U.S. and only around 100 liberal progressive Talk-Radio stations. The Fairness Doctrine legislation currently circulating in the House of Representatives needs to be passed to make level this playing field.

     Liberals have a history to wear with pride. There should not be a need for liberals to hide behind the perceived synonym "progressive". Wear both terms with respectl!

     It was the colonial liberals of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and Madison et al who signed the Declaration of Independence which gave birth to our nation and the resulting economic liberties that included taxation only with just representation. 

     Practically all of the wealthy influential colonial conservatives fled to Canada or "Kingland" England rather than risk loosing their treasures and comfort! Maintain the status quo, they whimpered and whispered. Even back then, 200 years ago, the conservatives were on the side of the largest of corporations, the East India Trading Company. It was the Wal-Mart of that time, squashing all other smaller private tea shops in its greedy path. This is what caused the Boston Tea Party, which, in turn, precipitated the American Revolution.

    Thankfully, some progressive republican presidents understood this principle. Ike Eisenhower warned on the occasion of his last public speech before leaving office after eight years therein: beware of the ominous threat of the military-industrial-complex. Why did he wait eight years in office to finally give this, his most important and famous speech? Because he was afraid of the blowback from the enriched militant radical right

     Mussolini coined the phrase "fascism" as the partnership of the largest corporations and state. The terms "corporatism" or "corporatization" also exudes this same foreboding frequency.

     Even Adolf Hitler implemented the marriage of the largest corporations and state in nazi Germany during his rise to power and even more on an accelerated pace after he became dictator.

   Abraham Lincoln was a liberal who fought for the liberty of the negro slaves. The conservatives were the ones who wanted to perpetuate slavery! 

     It was the liberals John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson who finally smashed the remnants of uncivil unrights that slithered forth after the Civil War ended. 

     The conservatives in the south fought the Civil Rights Act of 1968 with all of the police dogs and water hoses they could find.

     We The People should be proud to be liberals for liberty and progressives for progress! Lets act like it!
